Western Union in Uzbekistan

I want to try to get US dollars in Urgench - I have looked Western Union website and appears to be multiple agents in Urgench - any recommendatins?

This might be important info if you’ve (cough) lost your visa and have used Western Union to transfer money to yourself in places like Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan:

You can NOT transfer money to yourself via credit card (from Sweden anyway) in/to Uzbekistan. You can only send cash from a physical office (after a tedious registration). So I had to find a friend in Sweden and get them to register as WU customers, go to an ATM, take out the money I sent them as cash, get them go to a WU office (two places didn’t even know how to do this procedure...) and place the order there.

Don’t forget that bank offices have limited openings hours on weekends...

Also, you can’t apparently pay with contactless credit cards in Tashkent. This works in Almaty and Bishkek, so Apple Pay is not an option...

Just discovered that MoneyGram works with credit card transfer. So I’m using that instead. You will need your proof of stay at the hotel, so don’t forget to bring it!
