Uzbekistan LOI and visa for Australians

Post by NomasPP »

Hi,

We are planning a trip around Central Asia. We are three Australians and are hoping to get the visa for Uzbekistan encounter. Our rough plan is to start in Almaty, then travel through Kyrgyzstan and palmir highway to Dushanbe and get into Uzbekistan from there.

While looking at the various forums I have a couple of questions and clarifications

Looks like the best thing for us is to get the LOI and apply for the visa either in Almaty, Bishkek or Dushanbe.

My confusion are following

The Palmir hwy from Kyrgyztan to Tazkistan - does this have to go via Uzbek? If so do we need a double visit visa?

If I get LOI from you guys what's the best city to get the visa? I mean the least cumbersome.

How much is the cost of LOI for 30 days can you please quote both the single visit and two visits.

Can we do the LOI while on the road so that we have better idea of dates. I do understand it needs about 10 days lead time.

The Pamir highway does not run through Uzbekistan. For loi prices you can click on one of the links advertising loi services and get a quote there. As for embassies, there are embassy reports on the visa pages here, and they should give you an idea of what the experience is like at each place.

We are two Australians who applied for a single entry last month - LOI cost us US$42 per person processed by Topchan Hostel in Tashkent. Just have to email them and transfer the money and they can start processing, so easy enough to do on the road. It took 10 working days so apply with plenty of time as you have to nominate what embassy you want to pick it up at when you apply.

We picked up at Almaty embassy which was more or less straightforward, read the embassy reports for more detail.

Do you need to provide hotel confirmations or simply a list of where you plan on staying ?
