Hitchhiking in Uzbekistan

Possible? For example I'd ideally catch some sort of night transport from Bukhara to Urgench/Khiva.

I'm assuming if I pay enough, a shared taxi will do it--does anyone have an idea of how much this might cost?

Yes, just have to wave along the taxis - everyone pays for their transport in Uzbekistan, the concept of begging for transport is not understood. But since you are a foreigner, someone will take you along.
