Nowruz in Tashkent

We are arriving in Uzbekistan on the morning (9:15) of 21th March which I believe is Nowruz. Is this a big holiday in Uzbekistan and what can we expect both in terms of interesting public celebrations (where and when?) and practicalities like opening hours of museums, historic sites, Chorsu Bazaar, restaurants etc?

Usually there is a big song and dance, maybe free plov? Most interesting would be to ask around where a game of Kokboru might be held near Tashkent.
