Visiting the Aral Sea- costs

Post by Hazel »

I am hoping to visit the Aral Sea, and have been quoted 170 USD per person for a four-person, two-day trip starting in Nukus. At the risk of sounding like a typical stingy backpacker, that seems quite pricey...is this about standard, and does anyone have any other recommendations they could share?
Many thanks!

We would like to visit the Aral sea from Khiva.
We have two options: 1 day tour or 2 days tour. Can anyone make recommendations?
Any suggestion is appreciated:)

@Hazel: It's quite standard. We have it with Sanjar on our website for 145$ per person for a 2-person tour: https://caravanistan.com/tour/aral-sea-tour/ - so 72$ p.p. for a 4-person tour.

It's the same tour. If you find some local taxi driver you can get it cheaper, but the quality of the car will be worse.

@LauPau: it's worth camping over if you don't mind the price difference. Here are 2 reports of a 2-day trip:

Thank you Steven. Do you have any ideas of the costs for two people for the one day and two days tour? We are happy to share the car.

Oh, sorry, I made a mistake, it's 145$ per person for 2 people. For 4 people it would be 72$ per person for 2 days.

For one day, I think total cost is around 100$ in total, so depending how many people would join, it would 25 or 50$ per person.

Thanks again for the info:)
We are thinking of making two days (one night) from Khiva. Any idea who could help us to organize it?

Sorry if that was not clear, let me repost the link.

We specifically and expressly recommend Sanjar to organise it for you: https://caravanistan.com/tour/aral-sea-tour/

Hi,

Sorry if the information has been posted elsewhere but I cannot find it: is it possible to break a train journey from Khiva/Nukus to Aktau with a stop in Moynaq to see the Aral Sea?

Thanks!
