Hi all, I am entering Bukhara from Turkmenistan on 17/5/18. I plan to spend 3 or 4 days in Bukhara before going up to Khiva. I understand from Caravanistan website that the train operation serving Bukhara --Khiva will start in 2018. Does anyone know whether is the train operation started? Appreciate if you could share your experience here.
Else I would probably take a shared taxi from Bukhara to Khiva (probably around 20/5/18). Anyone going thru the same route would like to share the taxi?
Thanks

I tried to search for the train between B and U on the site and I couldn't come up with anything. Could you please let me know if the train operates daily during the tourist season, roughly how long the trip takes, and if you know the times? Thanks.

Thanks for the update. I'm thinking of just going with the flight option.

Best to check on the station in Uzbekistan when it runs, tutu does not have the correct information yet.Jealgu wrote:Accoring to tutu that train only rides once every two weeks, not very usefull for most travellers I guess

[Q] New train from Bukhara to Nukus?
Greeting!
Until recently, I knew there were no direct trains from Bukhara to Nukus or Urgench. I knew using the train leaving Navoi was the only way to travel.
But recently, a train schedule from Uzbekistan's Railways found that a train from Bukhara to Nukus was operating early Wednesday.
The train leaving Bukhara at 01:48 a.m. has a route through the Miskin-Turgul-Elikala-Kazaozek to arrive at Nukus at 11:40 a.m.
There passing through some Turkmenistan for a while...(Please check the image file) So, I'd like to know if I need a tourist visa through Turkmenistan to use this train? anyone has tried this train No. 054 please share information.
I am sorry that my English is not perfect. Thank you for your interest!

Your picture just has straight lines between the stops, not where the actual train track is.

The Uzbeks opened the line Bukhara-Urgench a few months ago, so there is now quite a number of trains, not just 54. The route shown on your image is just the bee line between stations, the actual line does not pass through Turkmenistan, so you won't need any kind of Turkmen visa.
