I have been postponing booking an internal flight from TAS to Khiva, because I am wondering whether it is feasible to visit the Savitsky Museum in Nukus en route (fly to Nukus instead, see the museum and then hire a taxi for the onward journey to Khiva). I have seen at least one report by a traveler who did that - its a lot more appealing prospect than either adding a stop in Nukus or taking a day trip there from Khiva, too much round trip driving. Has anyone here done that? Any suggestions on practicalities for example where it makes sense to arrange the taxi to Khiva? Airport? Museum? Station We will be dragging our bags of course.
Sure, why not. Fly to Nukus, get a taxi straight to the museum, visit, then get another taxi to the shared taxi stop to Khiva. If not ideal, it should be pretty easy with your bags, you can just leave them in the wardrobe of the museum.
