Uzbek sum exchange rates

The train station and Chorzu Bazaar worked well for me a year ago. Guesthouses might do it at a small premium. I exchanged dollars but was offered euros. The Euro rate might not be great.

We got different rates in different places. In Tashkent we got 6100, in Samarkand 6100 and in Andijan we got 6200.

Locals tries to charge us a conversion rate in reverse at 6500.

when u exchange count always.
they always give less money hoping u dont count.
I had to count 3 times and they try to make noise and disturb U so u just get pissed and go without count

Hi, we are in Uzbekistan right now and manage to change everywhere for 6200 to the usd.
We got scammed in Termes by one money changer. He gave us all one thousand bills, so that is 620 bills for one hundred usd. They pack them in packs of one hundred bills. After recounting back at the hotel I found that 2 packs had only 90 bills in them.
So, now I take my time, count every pack, ask for 5000 sum notes and in every town the rate I get is the same.and since I now wait till I find a person I like, changing money has become a fun thing to do in every town. I only do one hundred usd each time.
They also change euro, I have never changed but I guess you can probably get 6500 - 6600, maybe a bit more

Count your money in Termiz. Was given a pile of half million in 100 x 5000s but was 7 notes short. then when we got to 600,000 they tried to pretened that 100 x 6200 = 602,000!

100 usd is quite a lot.

One thing to be careful for (esp if youre getting 1000s) is to make sure you keep the cash while you count it. Heard from an Uzbek about how the moneychanger took money from packs while she was checking the other packs they gave her.
