Uzbek sum exchange rates

Can I exchange som back to dollars? I have a certificate that seems to say I can? Has anyone done this?

While the link you provided says you cannot change Som back into USD.

I am sure that when I was exchanging USD for Som, in a Bank, during our visit in September 2017 they will now take Som back for USD at 8150 Som /1US$

That would be great. Although I have had several reports of banks and airport exchange offices saying they would do it, I have yet to get a report of someone actually succeeding.

I've seen the buy back rate in banks where we've changed USD to UZS. The rate we're currently getting is 8000 UZS to the dollar when we exchange USD to UZS. We haven't tried UZS to USD yet but the rate I've seen is 8150, so not too bad.

The most recent exchange rate was 1 USD = 7800 Sum and 1 EUR=8000.

It's definitely possible, just have the receipt of your USD->UZS with you because you need to show how you purchased your UZS.

You mean Turkmen Manat? No. The only way you will be able to get rid of those is if you find a tourist that is going there and change with this person.

I would like to take the chance to mention something that i didn't find it here or in the guides. All ATMs in Uzbekistan charge a fee of at least 1 to 1,5% on every withdrawal. It doesn't sound much but on the course of the entire trip, coupled with the charges your bank will impose, could mean a lot of money in the end.
