Buying a tent in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Post by Mama Jamer »

Hey all,

Thanks Steven and Saule for the great site.

Does anyone know of a camping/outdoor store in Tashkent? I'm looking to buy a tent, and Google hasn't given me any useful leads. Can't pack up a yurt on the back of my bicycle, unfortunately.

Thanks,

Megan

I don't know honestly, but the place you are staying at must be able to point you in the right direction. Please let us know if you found a good place, I am looking for this type of info for an upcoming Tashkent guide.

Hey Steven,

Ended up buying a tent off of the girl I was cycling with. My hostel doesn't know of a place that sells modern camping equipment but they suggested I could probably find an old Soviet-style camping shop in Tashkent. If you'd like I can get more of a location for that.

Thanks,

Megan

I need to hang out in Tashkent for a month and really figure these things out.

I hung out in Tashkent for a month and didn't figure it out! I'm sure you'll have more success than me - once I got the tent from my friend, my motivation was low to find an actual camp shop.

In terms of bike shops, I don't know if you have this already listed, but Sport Market on Shota Rustaveli (maybe...2KM SW of the Oybek Metro) sells some things. Helmets, lights, brake pads, locks. And bikes, of course. But it's more of a generalist in terms of sports equipment.
