Buying a water filter in Almaty or Tashkent?

Post by Irisz »

Hi guys!
Does anyone have advice on where (and which ?) to buy a water filter in Almaty or Tashkent? Since I've read it's recommended for the pamir highway but haven't ever used one, I'd appreciate some experienced help :)
Thank you all!

Hi

If you mean portable water filter for tourism it's hard to find them in Almaty. Or they'll be expensive.
We order things like that on-line.
Better buy from the Internet in advance.

Thats what i mean. Unfortunately I can't order online anymore, since we are here already and plans changed. Still, do you know where to find it in Almaty?

I called to a few sports shops and they didn't have any.
Check sports/outdoor shops Outdoor center, Sport master, Kogan, etc.
I asked around hikers in Almaty. One offered to sell Frontier Pro filter that he bought on-line but didn't use. Local hikers don't use filters much.
If you don't find in the city can write me and I arrange that filter.
Or I think you can survive without filter. And filtering doesn't kill bacteria anyway. But boiling does.

I don't bother with a filter while travelling. Consider just buying some purification tablets - cheap, lightweight, and you can buy them at most pharmacies.
