Hiking day trip in Khujand

Hello,

We are traveling to Khujand, and are interested in a day hike. Does anyone have experience or knowledge about where to hike during the day near Khujand?

We read on one website that there was hiking in the north of the city near the University, but couldn’t get much further info. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

There are few trails in Mogoltau mountains, just north of Khujand, marked on soviet maps. Its possible to hike either across the passes between northern and southern sides, or just up and back from northern suburbs of Khujand. Mogoltau is quite dry, so take enough water. Kuraminsky range near Taboshar is beautiful, many trails, but some places are spoiled by mining industry, and expect some security checks, cause its close to border with Uzbekistan
