Ferry To/From Hainan Island

Hey all,

looking for some help here. I'm planning a trip to China, starting in Hainan. I've been trying to find info on a ferry that runs between the island and the mainland, but I keep coming up short with answers.

Does anyone know if such a ferry actually exists? If so, where can I find some info on it? If there is no ferry, how does one get from Hainan to the mainland?

I did read that, but I wasn't quite sure, as I've never been on a train that uses a ferry, hence my question here.

Actually, you don't need to buy a ferry ticket. Just buy a train ticket from Haikou to Zhanjiang (on Leizhou Penisula, just across the Qiongzhou Channel), or buy a ticket to anywhere in China like Beijing, Guangzhou etc. You are not allowed to get off the train coach when the train is on the ferry, but you can see how the train is separated into several sections and being pushed back by locomotives onto the ferry.
