Karakoram Pass and K2 north face trekking Q&A

Does anyone have any experience with either of these trips?

My understanding is that K2 North Face can be trekked in the summer (except July/August due to high rivers). This is possibly something I could sort out in Kashgar.

I've never heard of anyone visiting the Chinese side of the Karakoram Pass (not Khunjerab!); I know it has been visited relatively recently from the Indian side, but permission is a huge issue.

I'll have a bicycle and it would be fun to see if that's a feasible way of travel, but I have no problems leaving the bike in Kashgar.

Thanks for any insight!

I know on the Pakistani side of K2 you need permits to trek, and on the Chinese side you need permits to climb, but not sure about trekking. It's quite a daunting expedition to attempt by yourself, I hope you have lots of gear and experience! Otherwise there are some tour operators who do camel-supported treks there.
