Selling car in Bishkek - Experience or interest?

Postby Bodhi.w » Sat Oct 05, 2019 2:18 pm

Hi All,

We are planning on selling a 2003 Audi A4 (auto, diesel, wagon, RHD) in Bishkek late October. Does anyone have experience / advice on selling the car at these car markets or scrap yards? The car has export number plates and no carnet so hopefully its not too difficult.

Alternatively, is someone interested in buying the car? Looking for approx $1,500

Cheers
Bodhi

Hi,
We have been looking how to get rid of a car in the Eurasian customs and it is proving to be a nightmare.
I think you can still sell a RHD in Kyrgyzstan until 2020, however not in the neighbouring countries. Problem is the import tax will be your cc multiplied by 6 (1900 cc diesel multiplied 6 = 11400 USD import tax). Real problem and people generally prefer petrol cars.

Leaving the car you will still be faced with the import tax or most likely not be able to come back into the Eurasian customs union.
Scrap yard option – long process which apparently cost around 800 to 900 USD and approximate 45 days for the clearance.
Crash it and have the police declare a “write off” probability easiest, but would not recommend intentionally.
Our car broke down and we are looking for one to tow it out of the customs union, so if you want to us to drive yours out let me know. Is it a UK registered car that has been de- registered for export?
Kind regards

Hi Maria
My mistake, its actually a left hand drive (i'm from aussie, this whole left hand drive is on the right side confuses me). The car was actually from the czech republic and deregistered for export. Thanks for the info, sounds like you have spent some time looking into it. Shame to hear its such a headache.

If your interested in a car to tow out yours its definitely an option. Send me a PM to chat further.
