Artuch Base Camp Q&A

Post by rsi »

Hi,

Next month I am planning to go to Artuch Camp from Panjakent.

Does anybody know how to reach Artuch Camp from Panjakent? Aproxiamate timetable, etc? Types of transportation? Cost, etc? Where do they leave from?

I have read about shared taxis,..., but the information is not very clear.

Thanks

Hi

This can be not 100% accurate but anyway.
Taxis and shared taxis wait near the bazaar/main mosque.
The whole taxi to Artuch base camp is about 300 somoni.
Shared taxis go to Yakkakhona village for about 15 somoni. From there hiking about 5 km uphill till the base camp.
Some say there are shared taxis to Artuch village. Not sure about that.
But maybe you can get closer to the base camp by shared taxis to hike less.

Another option is to hire transfer offered by Artuch base camp http://artuch.tj/artuch-camp/
Can ask them if it's possible to join another group transfer to reduce the cost.

Sorry, don't have very clear info. If you have a chance to check out shared taxis and share your experience will be super great.

Does anyone have updated pricing info? Seems like transport to and from Artuch is quite costly now compared to previous years.

I don’t have updated prices on this route, but I can say that prices have not gone up that much for those with USD, but rather the Tajik somoni has weakened. The rest is fuel price increases. So find the exchange rate from the year/month you see a price listed. Take the USD amount that gets and then calculate the current rate for Somoni against the USD. Then add maybe 30% for the fuel increases. That generally gets you in the area of the current going rate for transport. Of course, you will still find drivers asking for some steep fees.

Just adding to this the Artuch base camp were wanting to charge an extortionate amount for the transfer. 200$ for private car from Panjikent or 50$ from Rukhnobod (Shurcha) village. At those prices I'm now probably going elsewhere.

Hi All,

Can Artuch help to organise a custom 2D/1N trek for 2 pax? Can't spend more time beyond that due to constraints.

If they can, what would be an estimated cost, assuming a fully supported trek, ie. with a guide and tents/meals to be provided?

TIA.
