Qalai Khumb accommodation Q&A

Postby steven » Thu Dec 19, 2019 4:10 pm

Just whipped up a short article on Qalai Khumb, but I did not have much to offer on accommodation in the town. If you have a good tip for a hotel, hostel or homestay in Qalai Khumb or the surrounding area, please let us know below!

Questions and reports about the nearby border crossing to Afghanistan are welcome in this forum thread.

The bridge has been closed for the last three months (as is the weekly bridge market), as the Taliban control the entire district outside of the district capital/center:

We stayed in Guesthouse Roma, as well as a travel group on a booked jeep tour did.

It is very easy to find. Follow the main road, direction Langar.
Take the first street to the right after crossing the bridge.
The guesthouse is located about 50 metres, right side.

You can even see it on the pic on the Qalai-Khumb page. It's the building on the left river bank with the deck over the water.

Cannot recall how much we paid.
Friendly people, inner courtyard where good food is served
The shower was warm, WiFi was sometimes available.

Note that you have to walk down some steep / narrow stairs to access the courtyard & some of the rooms.

In the same alley of Roma, just after the bridge along the river, the first house is Sangakov Bahrom guesthouse.
I slept there a couple of times and I always had good experience.
Good food and nice terraces on the river.
