Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen and I speak very good Russian. Does anyone know whether the border between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is currently open? Do you anticipate that it will be open come this summer? Is Canadian visa-free travel to Tajikistan still possible when crossing by land? Any other advice greatly appreciated for a first time Silk Road traveller!

The Panjakent-Samarkand crossing is currently open. No visa required for Canadian citizens according to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Tajikistan.
