Transport Khorog to Osch July/August 2022

Hello together,

We are 2 bikers from Germany and want to do the Pamir Highway in July/August 2022. Our original plan was to then take passage over the Kyzyl Art Pass to Kyrgyzstan. Since the border is closed, we are now planning a round trip (Ruschan -> Bartang Valley -> Khorog). From Khorog we would like to get somehow with our bikes to Osh. Is that possible via taxi? Or are there better options? What is the best route? Are other cyclists among you facing the same problem and would be interested in a ride share?

The border is closed, it is impossible. The only way is a very long détour through Uzbekistan. You will need to return first to Dushanbe. Then Penjikent Samarkand Tashkent the Fergana Valley and finally Osh, maybe 1500 kilometers in total till Osh.

I know that it’s quite a long detour. How do you think are our chances that we and our two bikes make it to Osch in a reasonable amount of time?

One alternative would be a flight from Duschanbe to Almaty to then do Kyrgyzstan in reverse direction. There are quite regular flights with Air Astana from Duschanbe to Almaty. Has anyone experience with this carrier regarding bike transportation?
