Hello guys,
my family and I are going to Tajikistan next week. We plan visiting the Pamir highway. How far can we drive past the Karakul lake to the Tajik-Kyrgyz border? We are not planing on crossing, but we want to drive as close to Kyzil-Art pass as possible.
Also, is it true that a Covid test is required to exit (!) Tajikistan? Some websites said so but it does not make much sense to us…
Furthermore, is getting a permit for Sarez lake easy? I‘ve read it is possible in Corough or Murghab.
Thanks
Maximilian

Re: Pamir Highway
The Pamir Highway was passed on the second attempt. I returned home the day before yesterday, a lot of adventures and impressions, photos and videos, now I will slowly process and write a story.

Re: Pamir Highway
you will probably be able to drive up to about 2-3 km before Kyzyl-art pass, except if tadjik border guards installed a new check-point further before the border.Maximilian wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 12:32 pmHow far can we drive past the Karakul lake to the Tajik-Kyrgyz border?

Nazrulo can help getting a Sarez permit, but be aware that Bartang valley road is presently closed between Savnob and Rukhch

Re: Pamir Highway
Hello there
PCR is not required to enter or exit Tajikistan. Vaccine certificate is more than enough.
Road to the Sarez lake in the Bartang valley from Rushon side (west to east) remains open as Sarez lake road diverts from the Bartang main road before the village of Savnob. But at the moment one cannot access the Sarez lake from the Murghab side, if you are travelling with vehicles( east to west) as you will have to pass Savnob village to go to the village of Barchidiv (the last settlement before the Sarez trek).
