Dushanbe to Samarkand in a day

I need to get from Dushanbe to Samarkand. Can I do this in a single day with a private driver? I am open to hiring someone to coordinate transport in both sides. I would start early.

If I can do this in a day, do I have time for a stop to see Iskanderkul?

It is even possible to do it in one day by public transport till Pendjikent.
With a private transport, yes you can detour to Iskanderkul.

Yeah, I've done it in one day. Took Asia Express bus at 7:30, then taxi to the border, crossed border and then took another taxi to Samarkand. Arrived 15:30. So, totally doable.

I will do this itinerary soon, but will probably leave Dushanbe in the late afternoon/evening and spend the night in Panjakent before heading to Samarkand the next morning. Are there shared taxis leaving Dushanbe to Panjakent in the evening as well?
