Bikepacking / where to buy bike

Post by Karolina »

Hello,

Me and my partner want to bike Pamir highway at the start of June.

Does anyone know a bike shop either in Uzbekistan or Dushanbe that we can purchase bike/gear?

Also, if anyone is also bikepacking from Dushanbe to Osh at the start of June, say hi and share your tips!

Thanks!

Hi,
From what I've seen in Uzbekistan the most reasonable option to buy something bicycle related is Tashkent, cycling is very niche thing in Uzbekistan.

I've been to a few shop looking for spare parts i needed and the best equipped one was Velo Zapchasti, Okolo Buz Bazara, Maksim, it's on Google maps. There are also others, e.g. Scott shop nearby, but i didn't look there. Not sure about bikepacking gear and prices of complete bicycles, I didn't look at them.

I'll be also looking for a bicycle shop in Dushanbe (one of my pedals is acting up) I'll get there in about a week, I can report what I'll find.

Overall i think it might be a better idea to bring your own bicycles on a plane with you.
