Re: Tajikistan launches evisa with GBAO permit

Please read and post reports on the E-visa system for Tajikistan below.

We summarize all info in the E-visa section of the Tajik visa page.

A separate forum topic tracks e-visa refusals.

To let an agency handle the process for you, we recommend Ivisa's Tajikistan service.

Tajikistan E-visa Q&A

Post by emmeff »

I can't see a reference on this site, but it was reported on the Thorn Tree forum yesterday. Some questions remain about reliability and whether it works for land borders, however.

https://www.evisa.tj/

EDIT: I see in the FAQ that this evisa is intended to replace the VOA at Dushanbe and Khujand international airports.

I'm all over this, I'll be the guinea pig and test it out.

Even better than VOAs! Costs USD 50 without a GBAO Permit btw, and USD 70 with.

It's issued for 45 days (=the VOA Maximum)

Going to mail them and ask if it can be used at land borders as well (and the other international Airports - don't remember their names but there are a couple)

This is great. Last year I picked up a Taj. visa in Bishkek.
But wanted to fly in direct to Dushanbe this year so if I can have the GBOA tagged on that will be even better.

Just asked the Tajik embassy in Tehran. They say it's new process, they don't have much details whether it's valid at land borders or not and that I should come back in 2 weeks after they are fully trained on the e-visa.

We read this this morning, and we're a little worried because we already have a flight for Saturday planning on getting a VOA. According to the Tajik embassy, the evisa will eventually replace the VOA, but right now, it is simply meant to make the process easier and avoid lines and waiting for the VOA at the airport. Guess we'll risk not getting an evisa (the website says it takes two working days, and since it is Thursday and we're flying on Saturday, we don't think we'll get the evisa on time). Will post an update on Saturday after we hopefully still get a VOA.

Firstly, at time of writing the website appears to be buggy. I had a look earlier in the week and it seemed fine, but now parts of the form are not loading properly. Hopefully they get it fixed quickly.

Secondly, I have a query. The FAQ on the website seems to imply that you must enter the GBAO on the exact day specified in your e-visa. My instinct is that this is probably not really the case, especially given that the application form doesn't seem to request such a date. Is there much chance they are serious about that?

No. That's probably just bad English.
