Hello all,
I keep hearing about the unreliability of access to cash throughout Tajikistan so I'm looking for any advice or input. My visa is good for 45 days so I plan on spending over a month in Tajikistan, the majority in the GBAO. I have a Visa card but as I've come to understand there are really only ATM's in Dushanbe and Khorog but it seems like they are often out of cash or unable to dispense large amounts. Does anyone have any solutions to this issue, or is the only option to bring a large sum of cash with me before I arrive? I'd rather not carry around a month's worth of cash but it's looking like the only option. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Hi Jesse, you don't have to. There will always be an option to take money out, even if it takes a while to find an ATM that works in Khorog. If there are no ATMs that work in Khorog, you can get money sent through Western Union or one of the other wire services.
