Dushanbe to Iskanderkul

Hi there,

I will spend a few days in Dushanbe next October and wanted to go on a daytrip to Iskanderkul. Advantours has a tour on offer but it costs USD 225 (I'm alone), which I find a tad bit too much.

What other options are there? What about hiring a taxi for a day? Any ideas on how much this could cost?

From Dushanbe, a shared taxi to Sarvoda goes for 50-80 somoni. Here you have 2 options. If you are a group, you can get off in Sarvoda, where local taxi drivers charge 200 somoni for the car for the last stretch to Iskanderkul.

If you are a solo traveler, ask to get dropped off at the turn-off to the lake 3 km before Sarvoda, and wait for a car to pick you up. Price is 20-50 somoni, most people don’t have to wait too long.

A private car from Dushanbe to or from the lake or Sarytag is expensive. Budget 100$ one-way.

rinq2504, what did you end up doing for transportation? I am also interested in a day tour to iskanderkul. The rates I have seen for private tours are cost prohibitive. Is it reasonable to hire a driver for the day to do round trip?
