Hello

It looks like Turkmenistan embassy in London issues LOI for transit visa with 10 USD. It takes one month to obtain LOI.

Thanks, widely varying estimates on visa cost but at least I know the Covid test cost!

Have you checked that that page has been updated anytime recently? I suspect it is 5+ years old.

Turkmenistan hasn’t started giving out transit visas after covid, only tourist visas (with guide).
For the rest I doubt if you would get a transit visa for flying in.
Concerning land borders: Uz is all good and safe, such is KZ. But transiting from uz to kz won’t be considered good for a transit visa since they have a border themselves. The boat from AZ is currently not going for passengers. I wouldn’t go to afghanistan, and as a brit (just like me as a dutch) I also wouldn’t go to Iran atm.

You might want to look into that tourist visa and a tour company.

How do you know the ferry from Baku is not operational? I have read that it works every day or every other day. I'd be interested in crossibg since I will be there in June

I emailed with Rik from CultureRoad, who told me this, and later I got it confirmed by someone on my route but I forgot who, sorry.
I think with all info at this point you have to double check if it’s confirmed after covid. Since covid a lot of stuff has been changed.

The info in the turkmenistan visas I got at the turkmen embassy in Tbilisi when I was there late march/early April 2023

I was thinking about visiting Turkmenistan on my Central Asia trip this summer, still hoping to get a transit visa. Would anybody know if it is possible to move around Turkmenistan on my own without a car? Basically seeing Ashgabat and Derwaza. Considering, transit visa will be available in September (I haven't found any new information, as for now transit visa are not available yet) Or any recommendations for tours?

That information is wrong, though. People have been crossing from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan for at least a year now. Latest report May 30, 2023
