Turkmenistan transit visa Q&A

I just visited the embassy in Ankara and they told me they stopped issuing transit visas as well, only driver's visa is possible but then you have to have a car etc. The guy was very communicative so he told that this is the general rule in all embassies/consulates. But I guess it makes sense to try nevertheless, who knows, maybe it changes.

Presumably if I had a car they would (possibly) give out a transit visa?

No, driver visa seems to be a different type of visa, you can check the migration office webpage. I was told that transit visas are completely stopped. What are the requirements for getting the driver visa, I don't know. Note that you will maybe get a different answer, I am just sharing the info I got.

Hi, anybody aware of the current transit visa situation? I could apply through Japan, Kazachstan or Afghanistan. Which of these countries would be best to apply? Also, what's the average time frame to receive your transit visa?
Secondly would it be possible to enter with a transit visa through the Turkmenistsan-Afghan land border Torghundi, Tawraghudi – Serkhetabat,Kushka, main land border between the 2 countries? Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone have any info on possibility of getting the transit visa in embassy in Tehran or Masshad ? I saw in several threads that people were in Iran and were having the same question but never replied on the topic.

So Ankara and Bishkek currently have some reports of no transit visa - any confirmation if Tashkent is still issuing or not?

I just tried in Ankara without success. They did not even look at my passport. They told me no transit visa are issued anymore, neither there nor in Tehran or Mashad or anywhere. They told me I need a "driver's visa". I told them I was cycling, they did not care.
