Train from Mary to cross the border at Crossing Border at Artyk to Lotfabad

hi there,

We are crossing from Artyk (Turkmenistan) to Lotfabad (Iran) and were thinking to take the train from Mary to Ashgabat, but get off somewhere close to the border crossing. The train seems to stop at Kaka (Kaakhkha - various spellings). Has anyone taken a shared taxi or transport from Kaka to Artyk for border crossing? Or is another station better?

The other thing is that the train stops at 4:50 am or 6:26 am in Artyk, so I am not sure how many taxis will be available at that time. Thoughts? How early and available are taxis at these hours?

The other option seems to go to Ashgabat but that would mean turning back on our steps and would take 1:30 h drive back to Artyk.

Good question, I personally have never read of anyone doing this but it could make a good precedent if it turns out to be easy. Please let us know if you what happened!

Hi,

train 602 (23.10 from Mary) stops in Artyk at 5 am or you can take any other train and get off in Kaka.
