Overland border crossing from Turkey

Hi,

we are planing a tour in may/june 2022 and wish to thravel trough Iran by motobike. From the German "Auswärtiges Amt" we read the information that some land border station are not open for foreigners ( EU citizens ).

Has anyone valid information which border station are open (from turkey and to azerbaidjan or with a lot of luck to turkmenistan)?

Looking foreward to any further information.

Turkmenistan is right now fully closed. You cant neither get visa, nor cross land border

There is one guy (Swch) who already is in Iran and and one family (Knorn) on its way to Iran.

But who knows what will be the situation in May.....

Hello everybody

Great that the boardercrossing from Turkey to Iran is possible again. Does anybody know if it works the other way around as well? I read that Turkey still has its boarder closed for Tourist coming from Iran and also from Georgia. Does anybody know if this is true?

There are some border crossings closed between Turkey and Georgia. However, the border at Batumi is open since summer for tourists.

Does anyone know what is the best checkpoint to cross the border between Turkey and Iran. My plan is to travel from Van to Tabriz.

In times before corona we passed the border between Dogubayazit and Bazargan without any problems several times.

Essendere was ok end of november (2021). Straightforward and helpfull on both sides of the border. All in all it cost us 1.5 hour to pass.
