Iranian visa for US, UK and Canadian passports: Q&A

Apart from refusing to process visa applications from these nationalities, there are reports that Iran has cancelled visas already issued to those passports.

Yea, that's a bit of a weird response, I admit. Since March is the start of the peak season in Iran ... Doesn't make much sense though, they should just start issuing visas pronto.

There are rumours that Kish and Qeshm Islands don't require visas at all for stays 14 days or Shorter, including for US, UK and Canadian citizens. Actually sent IATA a Review request on that

It has certainly been the case for Kish at least in the past

I'm just curious based on current events whether it would be silly to visit my girlfriend in the US for 2 weeks while I'm waiting for a second Iranian Visa in as many months. Plans have fallen apart for China, so am heading for Iran-Pak via south. Would the US stamp get me my visa and through the border ok?

I'll be flying direct to Istanbul to pick up my visa from the Iranian consul in Istanbul, and then heading to the Iranian border on my motorcycle.

I think getting to Iran won't be an issue. Bigger issue is getting to US. Remember that you need a visa to visit US if you are from a visa waiver program country but have a visa to Iran in your passport.

Iran's MFA is issuing authorisation codes and visas for US, UK and CA passport holders once again. However, it seems likely that all those 'here's how to do it without a tour!' options have gone.
