Hey there,
Looking for advice on wether or not it is a good idea to plan a trip to Iran during Ramadan?
Does anybody know if it is still easy to go around the country and visit places during that period of the year?
We will be only female travelers.
Thanks in advance!
Elise
Visiting Iran during Ramadan
Re: Visiting Iran during Ramadan
Personally I would say it is not the best time to travel in Iran. Of course, Iranians are very hospitable and they will try to make you comfortable and they will still host you, but they will often not eat together with you since most of them do fast.
Restaurants are closed, you cannot eat or drink in public, people are more reluctant to host you and the whole mood of the country is even more somber than usual (not as bad as Muharram but still)
On the plus side, Iranians do not travel much in this time so hotels and sights are empty, and you get to see something else -join in to an iftar meal, go to the Qods day assemblies etc.
Avoid if possible. If you cannot avoid it, make the most of it!

Hi Leo
Eating food in this month has some limitations. However, you can find easily the restaurants. Places and all tourism spots are available. I think it can be a good time to travel. Don't worry. I myself live in Isfahan, Iran. I can help you. feel free.

Thank you very much for both of your responses!
We finally decided to change our plans and are heading towards Kirghizistan instead for this year.
But we're definitely keeping Iran on our must-go-as-soon-as-possible list of countries!
