Hi Mikiso and Gator, mikiso wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:01 amHi Gator, I'm interested in the same thing as you. From the recent reports I've seen on Every Passport Stamp FB group, trying for an Afghan visa in the embassy in Dushanbe is a waste of time and money. They might give it to you (for $100 or $200, reports vary), but as it's not an "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" embassy but rather "Republic" embassy, the Afghan border control does not accept it. Travellers reported Afghan border guards cutting it out... and replacing it with a "proper" one! Of course, with a new fee to pay, etc. But basically like a visa on arrival. HOWEVER this was done with the help of a mentioned fixer inside Afghanistan, who basically called people in the MoI and arranged it.gatortraveler wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 3:35 amDoes anyone have experience receiving a visa for Afghanistan in Tajikistan, thinking of entering Afghanistan first through Sherkhan?
Iranian motorcyclists had their transit visas cut out and given (after paying again) 30-day tourist visas for $100.
I also read of a Russian national (it was either here or on EPS) receiving an Afghan visa at the consulate in Termez, Uzbekistan.
If anyone reading this has reliable information, would be happy to hear it.
I'm also interested in crossing through the Sherkhan border. But I recently heard that applying for the visa in Dushanbe can take up to a week or longer. Mikiso, if as you say it's possible to get a visa on arrival at the Sherkhan border, this would really help my situation, since I won't have very much time to spend in Dushanbe waiting on the visa. If you have any more information on this, or know of anyone with firsthand experience please let me know. I would really appreciate it!

No guide, no translator, no permit, no road pass or temporary import permit in afghan side. But hundred of check post will make you want to leave as soon as possible

Uzbekistan Afghanistan land border and back.
Planning on a return to Afghanistan (was last there in 2003) but crossing at Hairat from Uzbekistan. Is there any issues crossing back from Afghanistan into Uzbekistan currently? I've heard mixed things. I'm going back to Mazar (my favorite Afghan city), possibly Kabul for a couple days if Salan is passable - my trip will be in January LOL

Land border crossing
Anyone know if I can cross into Tajikistan from Afghanistan at Shir Kahn? I'm getting conflicting info on whether I can cross back into Uzbekistan at Hairerat and want to have another option just in case.

Re: Which Afghan Borders open?
My Wakhi guide Ibrahim told me that yesterday the border crossing at Ishkashim just reopened.
He also said that he thinks the consulate in Khorog is going to reopen and start issuing visas soon, but I would not trust that until it is confirmed by someone
On the ground in Khorog.
