Afghanistan Guide Recommendation

I recently returned from a 15 day trip in Afghanistan (absolutely amazing!). The trip covered Kunduz, Mazar, Samangon, the Solang Pass, Bamyan, Band-e Amir, Kabul and Nuristan (Parun and Waygal).

I did the entry/visa process at Panj-e Payon/Shir Khan Bandar after getting a taxi to the border from Dushanbe and then flew out of Kabul, with a Wakhi guide from Khandood, Ibrahim Hamdard.

Ibrahim is an excellent guide, who I'll be going with again when I plan on going to the Wakhan Corridor in a few years time.

He handled arranging all the paperwork, visa application, transport and accomodation. The paperwork alone I suspect saved valuable time.

Thank you for sharing this great information.
If you don't mind me asking what nationality is your passport? The only reason I ask is because I want to go through Dushanbe into Afganistan and then out through the Pakistan Torkham border.
I hold a British Islands passport which is basically the same as a uk passport and just wanted to gauge your thoughts on the feasibility of doing this route.
How long did it take for you to obtain you Afghanistan visa at the border?

I drove 2500 kilometers in Afghanistan in my car and visited 12 provinces of this country. I did not have any guide. Nothing terrible happened to me. ))) So you can travel around Afghanistan without a guide.

Afghanistan is high on my travel list, especially Bamyan and Band-e Amir. Your route sounds great, definitely inspiring me to start planning. I’ll probably need a guide when I go, so it’s great to have a recommendation like this. Hoping to make it there next year if all goes well!

Good to hear from somebody else who had a good experience with Ibrahim. I've stayed in touch with him since I did my trip to the Afghan Wakhan in 2018.

It seems that the long anticipated construction of the road through the Wakhan to China is moving ahead quickly, which has already brought great changes, as many non Wakhi and Kyrgz people are moving in to try to take advantage of the new construction and road.
