Landmines in the Wakhan Corridor?

Post by chanchan »

Hi,
I just read somewhere that there are landmines in the Wakhan Corridor.
I can't seem to find much more information on this though.
Is this true?

Thanks.

...been there recently. There is a sign beware of landmines somewhere within the first 50 km behind the First Checkpoint.

They are from the tajik civil war in the '90s, I've heared..... You will understand that I did not look closely 😉.

The road itself is safe.

Re: Landmines NOT ONLY in the Wakhan Corridor

landmines are not only in the wakhan corridor:
- khaburabot pass
- middle obikingob valley (north of langar)
- the valley of pyanj from ishkashim to kala-i-khumb (many places)
of course roads are safe but there are places that even in close proximity to the road could be dangerous.
