Afghanistan - can women travel freely?

Post by Lutnistas1969 »

I would like to visit Afghanistan with my wife. Is it possible?
I have the impression that most of the information on this forum ( how friendly, safe, nice... ) comes from guys.
Does anyone have any experience in this matter?

Dear Steven, thank you very much for the link to the article.
This is definitely a big help for us. I know I'm being picky, but I feel like the article looks more into traveling with an agency.
Maybe this is my wrong impression but it's always seems to me, that the travel agency separate you a bit from the reality.

Travel writer Anton Krotov hitchhiked nearly the length of Afghanistan last autumn with his wife. On his blogging about it, you can find some comments about her attire and how she was treated (mainly totally ignored out of politeness). In Russian but Translate might be good enough.

The article is from a travel agency. Nonetheless, I think they do give you a good insight of how it could be if you travel as a woman in Afghanistan on your own.
