There are many ways to get in trouble in Afghanistan, and I find that most travelers haven't considered that normal, mundane criminal activity is a serious threat. Read this article above, and the first article in a series linked to at the beginning. Kabul is getting worse and worse every day...

This might be a bit off topic, but I'd like to point out out that the Swiss daily NZZ (a broadsheet comparable to the UK’s Telegraph) has run two lengthy pieces on Afghanistan travel
