Pamir in Mid May 2023-Looking for 2-3 people

Post by otto »

Hi Folks,

My name is Otto, I am Thai. I will be travelling on my own. I plan a round trip from Dushanbe either from 15, 16 or 17 May and come back to Dushanbe within 28 May. Looking for 2-3 people to share a ride.

Please feel free to drop me a message on the forum for more details.

Thanks :)
Otto

Hi Otto, my name is Oliver. I live in the UK.

I'm thinking about doing the Pamir highway summer next year too. Are you set on mid May? I am one person.
I'm trying to find information about whether the GBAO is open at the moment and the Afghanistan border situation, but there's hardly anything!
My friends were in Tajikistan earlier this year but I haven't got updates for a couple of months.

I'm also trying to figure out what the best way to get to Dushanbe would be from South East Asia. You said you're Thai - are you flying from Bangkok?

Hi Oliver,

I will be travelling from Bangkok to Almaty and fly from Almaty on the next day to Dushanbe. Haven't done a research on GBAO yet but will do sometimes this month. I am not sure about the situation on the Afgan border that's why decided to book Dushanbe round trip. However, if the border open at that time my schedule could be flexible on this.

The security situation in GBAO is calm and the area is open for tourists. The border to Afghanistan is closed and not likely to reopen anytime soon. Border with Kyrgyzstan remains closed as well.

Hi guys!

My name is Fabrizio, I'm brazilian and live in Barcelona.

I also want to ride the Pamir highway in Mid May. ; )

I'm planning to travel from Cazakistán to Uzbekistán and to do the whole Pamir highway on a circle route (roundtrip) starting/ending from/to Dushanbe and would be great to share some transport (Van, minibus, car, whatever).

I intended to arrive in Dushanbe on the 20th of May (could not before this) and I want to be back to Dushanbe on the 28th, 29th or 30rd of May, maximum.

My idea is to take a trip along the Pamir Highway with 7-9 stops for overnight, exploring the most attractive places in the region with possibility to make some trekking tour (1-3 days) . Follow a link with a suggestion of itinerary I've found from PamirTrips agency: https://pamirtrips.com/trips/along-the- ... #itinerary

What you think about ?

Let's make happen this shared ride ! :D

Cheers,

Fabrizio

I was looking to join a group either this spring or summer. I messaged milianways since my original plan was to go around March, but failing that I'd be interested in going with the May group.

Is everyone still planning to start in Dushanbe and return back to the same? It'd work easiest for me to exit Kyzyl-Art and head to Uzbekistan via Osh, but whether/if the KG/TJ border will open back up is uncertain still--another thread was hopeful it'd open up this year, but there doesn't seem to any solid news on whether that's progressing towards reopening any time soon.

I don't think there was anything that hopeful in that thread, and I expect all crossings to remain closed for the foreseeable future. The borders closed because of clashes in 2021, and the conflict escalated in 2022, so things aren't exactly trending in the right direction.

Hi, I'm also keen to potentially join this trip and would be looking to start and end in Dushanbe given border closures, will keep an eye on this thread!
