Embassy report: Chinese Visa in Yerevan

Post by Larzachstan »

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to apply for a China visa in Yerevan? If so, is it easy to get your visa over there?

Cheers,
Lars

I was just calling the consul of the Chinese embassy in Yerevan:
As a German I can not apply for a Chinese visa here, the consul asked for an Armenian residant card, so I think only Armenians can aply for a visa here.

I've just been in embassy.
As a ukrainian I can not apply for a Chinese visa in Yerevan. They asked for an Armenian residant card, so I think only Armenians can aply for a visa here.
Situation didn' change.

Just went to the Chinese embassy in Yerevan this morning and of course the Armenian lady behind the counter (very polite and charming for a change) told us that we need a resident permit to apply for a visa.
Just as in Tbilisi, I showed her all the support documents we have from NAVO Tour in China (LOI, guarantee, itinerary, ...) and she said she will try to ask the consul.
Consul walked by and just said 'no' without even stopping or looking at the documents!
After been around most if not all Chinese embassies around Caucasus, I really blew a fuse by that same shitty attitude and started screaming at them. It did wake them up a little and a another Chinese staff eventually came and explained that they just could not issue visa for non residents and that we should try our luck in Tehran as every country has different rules...

So it seems that our last chances are Tehran or send our passports back home along with a letter of power of attorney.
