Iran Visa: Previous Nationality Issue

Postby rtwnow » Wed Jan 20, 2016 5:44 am

If an applicant applies for an Iranian visa using his European passport but answers on his application form that he has a previous nationality of American, will his application for an Iranian visa(without tour guide) be automatically rejected?

What happens if an applicant 'forgets' to mention his previous nationality on the Iran visa application form?

I may also mention that the applicant's birthplace is clearly listed as USA on his European passport.

Any guidance regarding this tricky issue would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know, but I will see if our partners in Iran know what to do with this.

Thanks for checking into that. A friend pointed out that the question asks about Previous Nationality and never mentions dual-nationality or multiple passports. So technically speaking if someone has a second nationality that person has NO previous nationality. I'm thinking the most honest answer is therefore "none" .

Ok, so you still have an American passport?

Here is the answer:

"His previous nationality and place of birth is not important. Only his nationality and his passport is important."

Perfect. Thanks for checking into this.

This is good news for anyone who has dual-nationality and wants to apply for an Ianian visa. It means there is no problem getting a visa to Iran if someone has a 'second' passport from the United States, Canada or the UK. The person should simply apply using his more acceptable passport (European, for example).

Your help and advice is much appreciated.
