Embassy Report: Uzbek visa in Kuala Lumpur
American citizen getting Uzbek tourist visa from KL. Applied in person.
Submitted application on a Friday, they told us to call back in a week. Went back the following Friday, they told us we were approved and to pay $160 at a nearby Maybank (they will give exact account number). We returned the next Monday with pay receipts and our passports. They had some additional questions for us regarding our "student" status. Though no longer students, it was the closest option among the choices (which only includes things like "government representative" and "journalist"). Had to write a signed statement explaining who we were and what we were doing in Malaysia. At this point pretty worried because they seemed to think we were suspect AND we had already paid them! Luckily they finally decided we were alright and we got our visas.
TLDR: Application without LOI was 1 week, you get to keep your passport, cost $160, have to pay in MYR at local bank.

You have check in with neighborhood gate guard first, and then with embassy guard at the actual house. Wait time varied from 15mins to 45mins once in the embassy.
Hours:
Really setting the bar for work/life balance. These posted hours aren't ironclad, once time we showed up at 11am and the guard just said "closed now, come back at 3pm". Hours that day had just been bumped to 3-5pm for unknown reason.

Lunch time:
13:00 – 14:00 hours
Working hours:
9:00 till 13:00 hours
Bring:
- 2 passport photos
- printed and completed form (http://www.uzbekembassy.com.my/picture/viza.pdf)
- scan of EVERY page of your passport
- a print out of your proposed route through UZ
- confirmation of where you're staying (hotels)
- actual passport (you'll be able to keep it through the wait period, luckily)
- We didn't have an LOI (USA doesn't need) but some others might

Need to show: photocopy of passport photo page, photocopy Malaysian entry stamp page, copy of itinerary (no proof of hotel bookings needed), 1 passport photo, copy of LOI and pre-filled application form (available on Caranavnistan).
UK passport without LOI- took a little over 1 week to process 30 day single entry tourist visa (applied during Noruz), US$75/337 Malaysian ringgit. Need to show photocopy of passport photo page (but can keep your actual passport during the application process), photocopy Malaysian entry stamp page, copy of itinerary (no proof of hotel bookings needed), 1 passport photo and pre-filled application form (available on Caranavnistan).
*Both visa application forms were quoted in US$, but payment was made at a nearby Maybank in Malaysian ringgit. Weren't asked for an onward flight from Uzbekistan
