You seem to have some special connection to the regime since no one else got in during the games, so perhaps you can risk putting that in. For any normals traveler: they would be rejected immediately.

We've got a 45 days visa to support the games with catering staff, so I guess it's not that special 😀. I'm worried of this being an issue for me and the girl, as everyone knows the cameras are everywhere and I won't be able to roam that freely. And it might be a good reason to refuse the visa. Also, I'm not sure if when I specify where in staying do I need to provide some kind of proof like receipt or confirmation of booking.

Oh, I see!

No, hotel booking is not necessary. I would definitely not mention your girlfriend at all, ever. And take care where you meet. We already had some people get their girlfriends in trouble.

Has anyone been able to apply for a Turkmen transit visa without already having the visas for the countries before and after (in my case Uzbekistan and Iran)? I'm afraid from a timing perspective I will not be able to show a copy of my Iran visa (I'm due to get that a few days before I would get into Turkmenistan). Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks steven. I had read through your very helpful page which states you do need at least the exit country visa at time of application but I guess I was hoping to see if anyone had gotten around that issue (probably wishful thinking on my part). Thanks for all the info it's incredibly helpful.

I think I will apply for a Turkmen tour/visa since that seems to be my only option

Transit visa

Postby will_d » Mon May 07, 2018 11:33 pm

Hello,

I’m an Australian who requires a transit visa to travel through Turkmenistan. I will be travelling from Uzbekistan into Turkmenistan and exiting into Kazakhstan. Dates 17th to the 21st of August.
The London embassy has informed me I need a special letter of invitation for a transit visa ? Even though this is no specified on the their website. ( I am not in the mongol rally ) I will be mailing my passport and docs to the embassy .

Questions are.

Is my route acceptable ?

Is a LOI actually required for a transit visa, ?

The London embassy said I put the money inside the envelope. In cash . Is this correct !?

If so how do I get a LOI ? My understanding is it differs from the tourist LOI. they told me on the state imagration website but again that doesn’t say I need a LOI for a transit let alone a form or any information .

Your help would be much appreciated , Will.

You don't have to go via Turkmenistan to get from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan. Therefore, you won't get a transit visa.

First time I hear an embassy say something like this. You do not need a LOI, or this would be a new rule. It is unlikely you will get a transit visa for this route, though, as Milad said.

Please post further questions in the Turkmen transit visa q&a topic linked in the article, saves me the hassle of merging the topics. Thanks!
