Embassy report: Iran visa from Islamabad, Pakistan

Post by ally_monkey »

We planned to pick up our visas from the Iranian embassy in Pakistan having registered through the reference number procedure. When we arrived, they said they only accepted e_visa applications and not the reference number procedure so we'd have to start again from scratch. We paid €50 each and are still waiting to receive our visa but hopefully today!

Yes we can confirm LOI not required for Iran Visa - pickup from Islamabad. Embassy offical not happy when you pay someone for LOI and believe you do not trust them etc. we did e-visa and had no problems. Called Embassy to confirm and received date and time for interview/appointment. Received Visa same day. (Not sure if we got charged more - as they asked if we wanted it that day - we said yes) and they told us how much to pay at nearby bank.

Update on Iran visa from Islamabad Embassy:

E-visa confirmation letter is all that is required. Once here, you just answer a few general questions that embassy types usually ask and they will make you write this in the form of a letter. You must include where you have been, where you are going, who you travelling with, the length of visa you require and mode of transport. They then send this to Teheran and you need to wait for approval. They'll take your contact details and inform you as such. Problem is they don't tell you how long it will be, one said up to two weeks. Best to come here before exploring the North to avoid wasting time in Islamabad.

Look out for an article on this soon on our blog: https://www.summitsandcities.com

Any updates on how long it will take? I'm not sure to apply in Islamabad or Delhi.
