Please read and post reports on the embassy of Pakistan in Tehran below.

We summarize all info on the Pakistan visa page, under embassy reports.

Reports on the letter of no objection are gathered at the LONO in Tehran page.

Embassy report: Pakistan visa in Tehran

Post by tatterdemalion »

Tourist visa can be done here only if you will be going to Pakistan immediately after Iran. Will take a long time (over a month) to process apparently.

Transit visa (15 days) is possible but expiry will be one month from date visa is processed. Must have visa of country you're transiting to (and photocopy) to apply.

You are a beam of light in the darkness my friend !

I am now in Ankara where I just learned I would either need to go back to France (from where I walked and hitch-hiked closte to 4000 kms) or manage to get residency in Turkey for at least 2, possibly 6+ months before I can even apply for a Pak visa. Not to mention I am a broke homeless hitch-hiker ... not sure if it is very advised to advertise this profession on any application form whatsoever.

Would you mind answering a few questions, just so that I am sure to have reasonable chances of success before heading towards Tehran ?

- Did you actually succeed to get either the tourist or the transit visa in Tehran ?
- If yes, which country is your passport from ?
- Did they ask for any documents (employer certification, bank statement, flights bookings or tickets, hotel bookings) ? Or maybe you had included them in your application before even asking ?
- Did you mention entering/exiting by land border crossings (if that is indeed what you plan to do) ?

Thanks for taking the time to help :)

Hey homeless French hitcher,

Glad you found this helpful.

I couldn't apply for the tourist visa as I'm visiting another five countries beforehand and there's no way I could wait more than a month even if I wasn't; nor the transit visa as it's validity would have expired well before I arrived in Pakistan. Given that I didn't apply, I'm only going on their answers to my questions and their reviewing my application form.

I have both Australian and British passports and was advised to use the Australian if I applied. Apart from being cheaper I have no other idea why, I did ask but wasn't given an answer.

The only documents I was asked to bring were:
-application form
-three passport photos
-photocopies of my passport
-printout of any future visas
I also provided:
-a list of places I wanted to visit and made sure not to include or mention Balochistan (just in case it made a difference)
-travel insurance certificate (which they took)

If you do apply in Tehran get yourself the the Indian e-visa (or full six month) before applying to prove your onward travel.

My entry point was listed as either Lahore, Islamabad or Karachi as I'd be flying in from Uzbekistan. Exiting to India wasn't a problem.

I will most likely be applying from Bishkek or Tashkent, so will provide a report on the outcome there too.

We spent the last two days at the embassy of Pakistan in Teheran.
It is NOT possible to get a tourist or transit Visa for Pakistan for Germans, Bosnians or Serbians at this embassy to enter the country by car.

We talked to the consul in person. He is not allowed to give you a tourist visa.
He is allowed to give you as a foreigner a transit Visa, valid for 2 weeks. BUT: he needs
1) Visa for the country you want to visit after Pakistan -no problem
2) a letter of recommendation from your embassy in Teheran, that you are allowed to enter Pakistan- big problem.

The Germans give you this letter only with a valid flight ticket and they write that you're allowed to enter Pakistan by airplane. Then the consul of Pakistan gives you the transit Visa, but he stamps the visa with a permission only to enter by airplane. So no chance to enter by car.

The Bosnians and Serbians don't write you anything.

I don't know, if embassies of other countries give you the letter of recommendation for entering Pakistan by land...

Embassy report: Pakistan visa in Tehran

Post by Roran24 »

Thanks you both for the info.
My friends and I (French and German citizens) are considering land arrival in Pakistan. Our plan is to cycle from Paris to Beijin and we are currently half way through Turkey.
We were then thinking of getting our visa in Tehran.
Please let us know George what answer you get.
Cheers

It will be nice to hear an info from someone who got his or her visa in fact.

I have a passport of Ukraine. On November-December 2016 I came to the embassy in Tehran but I was refused. Then I made one more attempt in the consulate in Mashhad. They told me the same, like "we give visas only for locals or people with resident permits". But they also say I can apply, they would send my docs to Islamabad, because sometimes Islamabad office does an exception -- but the whole process would take from 4 to 6 weeks. I applied and they took my contacts and promised to phone or e-mail me in a few days to tell if I'm an exception. Of course nobody called me. And when I finally manage to contact them, I was said they would not consider my application, cause I'm not an Iranian.

hi travelers!
Georges, do you have some news? do you have some explenations about why the embassy refused you the LONO? They not accept for tourist or transit visa? have you try to have the LONO in another embassy?
I hope you find a solution!
