I stumbled upon this: https://www.evisa.uz

It seems to be legitimate, but it's a different site than the one from before. Also, I can't switch it to English successfully but Chrome can translate it from Russian. I will try to make an application through this site today.

Has anyone seen an official announcement from the UZ government as to which website is supposed to be used?

Please disregard this, as user Luca mentions in his post further down this page, https://e-visa.gov.uz/main is the correct address.

I would hope they could manually filter through the applications if needed without much difficulty, but maybe that is expecting too much.

My application can no longer be found. Either that or the captcha is broken again, but I can only get "data entered is incorrect."

Please update us on how you go with your application, I can't seem to get https://e-visa.gov.uz/application to work. I'm now stuck on the captcha screen and it says my photo's are no ICAO standards...

The plot thickens. That website certainly looks legitimate. I found this: https://mfa.uz/en/press/news/2018/07/15448/ which says the e-visa.gov.uz site is legitimate.

This counter on the bottom of the home page makes me doubt if it's legitimate:
633138 received applications
100 under consideration
633000 issued a visa
38 denied

Try a different browser. On a Mac, I got the furthest in Chrome, and both Firefox and Safari had dropdown issues. A programmer friend told me the website code probably has a "race condition" problem loading the list of countries.

When I saw that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have working e-visa sites, I hoped/assumed that Uzbekistan would hire the same firm ... but that hope appears to have been misplaced.

I have only about a week left before I'll have to send my passport to NYC in the old (FedEx + $160) way.

If you've paid but don't get any sort determination (ie approval or rejection), be sure to file a chargeback on your credit card. That should get the Uzbeks' attention.

The problem is if you don't get an answer you don't know whether it was rejected or not. I just called them and they explained the idea is that they do NOT send any kind of confirmation email (except for activation code, which in my case was sent to my spam folder). If they approve the visa, then you get the visa sent to you, if it gets rejected, then you do not hear from them ever again.

Also they told me they are issuing the electronic visas already, and suggested I should wait a couple days and see if I receive the evisa by email (I applied yesterday).

Also they confirmed the evisa is valid for ALL border points.

By the way, the evisa is managed completely by Uzbek Tourism, they are in charge of it, not the MFA, so the phone number provided is actually the right one.

The counter is wrong obviously but the site is legitimate: https://e-visa.gov.uz/main.
Also, for me the CAPTCHA works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't, it seems they are working on it. If it doesn't work for you I recommend to try again a bit later.

Good luck everybody! Looking forward to reading about the first success story soon!

Luca,

How soon after you applied did you receive the activation email?
