Uzbekistan visa in Bangkok - consulate report

Post by kuzco »

Was able to obtain a tourist visa with a U.S. passport and no LOI. Processing time took the standard 8 business days (dropped off application on Monday, picked it up on Friday of the next week. I think there was a delay of one day because of Uzbekistan's Independence Day. The office is open from 9-12 and 3-5 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday although you can also call them during business hours on Tuesday and Thursday. You can keep your passport while they are processing your application. Friendly service and a fairly straightforward process!

Report on Uzbek visa in Bangkok US passport

Post by Brando »

Located behind the Viet embassy. Open 10-12 and 3-5 on normal business days. Got 30 days 2 entries. Same high price for US passports, varied for others. Easy but expensive, it took only the time spent filling out the form and the man was friendly/helpful. As far as "where we were staying" we only had to write "hotel". Came back 8 days later and paid at a nearby bank. 6080 baht for US passports which is (around 180 USD)more than the already steep price of 160 USD which it said on the wall. Wouldn't accept USD. I can't recall the price for other passports, though it was much cheaper, still probably more than usual because the price was in baht at their exchange rate.

We, 2 Dutchies, applied and received our Uzbek visa in 2 days without a LOI. The consulate general in person received us in the small booth on the edge of the Uzbek embassy. We applied after lunch otherwise it could probably be ready in 1 day. Maybe it was due to the consulate general that we received it that fast. When we phoned the standard telephone number to check if the visa is was ready the first reaction of an employee was that it would take 5 (working) days. We were able to keep our passport during the application process

Overall a friendly service!
