Hi.
I travelled toUzbekistan in August for 4 days. When i tried applying for the evisa, the system was notoriously down at the time. I spoke to someone at the embassy and they said that because I was only going to be there for 4 days, I wouldn't require the evisa. However, was a different story when I showed up in Tashkent. Long story short, I had to purchase a return ticket to Almaty, Kazakhstan on the day of my departure, collect a stamp, come back to Tashkent, and then board my flight back to UK. ( I flew LHR-TAS-LHR).
Two things were made clear to me:
To avail the visa free scheme you had to:
1. Be travelling on Uzbekistan Airways;
2. Have an onward flight to a 3rd destination.
I plan on going again later this month. I want to take a taxi from Tashkent to Termez, going via Khujand and Dushanbe in Tajikistan. Has anyone tried re-entering Uzbekistan on the evisa?
If another visa is required, can I apply for both before I leave from the UK?
The system is fairly new, but if anyone has any experience of this, please do share your experiences.

Re: Re-entry to Uzbekistan on evisa
I’m not entirely sure if this is the same, but I had to exit Uzbekistan because an e-visa can’t be extended (my schedule changed so I needed 2 more weeks than I had) and you can’t apply for a new e-visa when you haven’t used the first one yet. So I went Tashkent-Shymkent-Tashkent to get a new e-visa. I used the same border with a couple days in between. In the end it was no problem - although the guards were a bit unsure about the e-visa system when we got back into Uzbekistan.
