Great to hear that things are changing ... After our bad experience I wrote to some ministries and people in Iran and telling about the story ... Maybe it helped? They also told me a Visa for germans should cost 50€ ... We applied in Yerevan and it was superb ... Nice service with fresh water, cookies and a very very friendly lady ... And cost 50€ (takes one week) or 75€ same day ... Hope Shota Tavazohi stays cool ;)

Hi everyone,

That's a great thread - and thanks for everyone keeping it updated and alive!
One question - wondering if anyone knows anything about getting a multiple entry Iranian visa in Tbilisi, or even Yerevan?

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone from Canada received their visa to Iran from Tbilisi recently? Anyone had any luck having a non-tour visa from any other Iranian embassies maybe a bit more east or in europe?

I have family in Iran but I don't want to be stuck on a 'tour'. I'd just like to apply for a visa and spend two to three weeks visiting my family.

To be honest, as unethical as it is, I have no problem 'paying extra', i.e. bribing if it lands me a visa to travel into Iran without having to pay for a silly tour and without the requirement of a tour guide following me everywhere.

We applied (with french passports) for the 30 days Iran Visa in Tbilisi.

We needed:
- our passport copy (you should let our passport )
- 1 picture. 3*4 ( with a scarf for women)
- Travel insurance copy
- reference number and the paper from agency

The man did not ask for our itinerary.

Price was 50€. You pay at the TBC bank 15min by walking.
We applied on monday, we collected on wednesday.
Everything was fine for us ! :D

I successfully applied for the 30 days Iranian visa in Tbilisi recently, it all worked smoothly (Austrian passport):

I went about two weeks after having received my reference number (through Caravanistan-Key2Persia). Everything was as previously described (opening times are Mon-Wed & Fri 10-13), I got there on a Monday - no waiting time, the man received me very friendly. I filled out the form, handed over my documents and then he firstly said I should go to the TBC bank, but then he actually asked if I had the 50 Euro in cash with me, I could pay directly with him - which I did (it seemed to be the exception, he produced a confirmation from TBC bank about the 50 Euro cash deposit, dated about a month earlier - it might have been 'left over' from a previous transaction). He said I could come back on Wednesday at 10 to pick up my passport.

I was outside of Tbilisi so I only went back a week later, finding the door to the embassy locked with a note on the door (in Persian & Georgian) - after a phone call I found out the embassy was exceptionally closed due to a high-rank visitor from Iran, and I should come back the next day. Since I didn't want to come back to Tbilisi again I could convince them that I could come that same day at 6pm to pick up the passport. I went and they again were very friendly and apologized many times for the inconvenience, and handed me my passsport with the visa.

All in all I would say it was fine, according to the most recent reports it seems that things have indeed changed and Tbilisi is just as fine as any other embassy to collect your visa (even though you don't get cookies like in Yerevan ;)

Safe travels everyone!
Chris

We just got our Iranian visa in Tbilisi (french passports).
It took 9 working days to get the LOI with key2persian (very friendly and cooperative !).
For the visa, we applied and paid 50 € in cash each at the TBC bank (~1 km from the embassy) on friday morning and got our visa on monday morning.
The procedure was easy and smooth and the people friendly. For the pictures, we went to a small shop in front of McDonald's (and near to exchange offices) at the center of Tbilisi. It is also possible to print documents in this shop.

Applied for the visa last monday (dutch passport). With LOI via Key2Persia (smooth service). Had to pay $50,- dollars at the bank and picked the visa up 2 days later. No problems whatsoever.

When applaying 3 Frech people also applied. One of them had to pay the fine at the bank, the two other that to pay it cash to the guy of the embassy. After some arguments they also went to the bank without paying the cash.

Ps. Thanks for all the useful info on this forum and the site. Really makes traveling and applying on the road much easier. Keep up the good work! ;)

I need an advice.
I'm currently in Lebanon. I called the embassy here before and they told me just to bring two photos and my passport. No LOI. Okay. Also I've heard some good stories about US citizens who got their visas here.
But I went today, and after completing the form they told me, better apply somewhere else as they're afraid my application would get rejected and that would be a problem for further applications.
So, I'll be back in Georgia in 20 June.

Where should I apply? Tbilisi, Batumi or Trabzon? My plan is to get the visa then go through eastern Turkey, so via Armenia isn't an option...
I decided to take an MFA Code, that is...even if I've heard from a dutch guy they didn't asked for one in May (Batumi) but I've read some nightmare reports here also.

It's confusing.

Also, what sort of Travel insurance? (or better, where isn't needed as mine didn't specifically state VALID IN I.R. Iran and I don't want to make a new one).

So for the LOI/ MFA code, can someone tell me:
I apply now, I'll get the code in 1-2 weeks. I don't understand yet how I'll make the payment to key2persia. Paypal isn't an option. I'll arrive in 20 back in Georgia, I'll go straight to the Consulate with my code and papers (passport, photos) and take my visa in ~1 week.

What consulate to choose?

I don't know about insurance but regarding which consulate to choose, I'd go for Tbilisi - all recent reports and people I met got it there within 2 days (just keep in mind that it's closed on Thursdays), if you have your MFA code. Apply fot the code as soon as possible because after you receive it, it might take some more days until the embassy gets it, and only then they can process your visa - so it's already tight for June 20. Key2persia is very reliable so maybe you have a friend who can make the paypal transfer for you.

I also heard that you don't need MFA code in Batumi but therefore it takes much longer & you're stuck in Batumi for a long time. Don't know about Trabzon...
