Visa for China in Dili, Timor-Leste

Postby Aasver » Fri Jan 18, 2019 9:37 am

Hello !

I am hitch-hiking back to Europe from Australia, french passport.

After facing difficulties to get a Chinese visa, due to my turkish (perhaps iranian) stamps, being rejected in Australia's Chinese consulates and reading negative reports about ones in south-east asia, I finally could get one in Dili, Timor-Leste (East Timor) in october 2018.

I said I work here until I go to China so I have to do it here. Then they said I don't have a working visa for Timor-Leste and I replied that I don't need one for 3 months as a EU citizen. They were satisfied with this.
They asked me both invitation letter and flight tickets.
- about invitation letter: I had one in this form: ... 0x1024.jpg , the lady said that for this embassy the invitation cannot be in this format, but have to be a hand-writted text that they show me. I insisted, she said to wait the consul, then when the consul arrived he said that the invitation letter I had (like the link I wrote above) was fine.
- about plane tickets: I said I travel overland, they said I don't need to provide entering flight ticket but have to provide the exit flight ticket anyway. I took the cheapest actual flight ticket that I found ; I didn't want to just give a free booking, as I was scared it could be a reason for rejection and I was really scared to don't get any chinese visa at all anywhere. But I think very much it's working to give a fake ticket or a free reservation lasting 3 days through , as they need just 4 working days to issue the visa.

You need also the usual china visa application form ( ... 742708.pdf), in which you have to wrote your itinerary in china. I included Hong-Kong to ask for a double entry. When I gave all documents I was talking with the consul himself, I requested 40 days after each entry.

4 days later I got the visa, 2 entries, 60 days after each entry, 6 months validity.

Good luck
