So, looks like the official e-visa site has been released.

https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/

Currently only five countries can get it, but it says they will be adding more countries soon. For tourist visa, it looks like you can provide hotel bookings instead of a LOI (If I'm understanding it properly).

I just got an old fashioned visa for my visit at the end of April (way to close to wait and see if Canada is added to the site). Glad that on my next visit I'll be able to get a visa much more easily!

Hello guys! Such a good news! 2 questions here:
1) The Visa on Arrival is also valid for land borders (Malaysian passport)?

2) The Tourist Visa is valid for land borders (Brazilian passport)?

Thanks everyone!

Was just about to give up on the e-visa and attempt to get a visa from my home embassy literally tomorrow. But, seeing that's there's an actual website created, I'm unsure if I should still go ahead with just getting the visa from the embassy or wait until the website supports USA visas.

I'm wondering if this e-visa would be valid at land borders as well. I'm setting off on my cycling trip in a month and a half and won't need the visa for 4-5 months. Since there's still a lot of uncertainties with the e-visa, I'd definitely feel a bit more comfortable if I had a visa in hand before leaving for my trip.

With all visa issues best to assume the worst. It may happen in a week, a month, a year or never. Often with these things there are different forces with different interests involved ... some will be unhappy with the new rule and try to restrict this to organized tour groups, airport entry only, who knows when and what kind of compromise is reached.

If you can get it with relatively little hassle now, do it now - it'll be a hell of a lot harder to do on the road, meaning you'd probably just have to skip Pakistan in the end.

(1) I emailed the support team today, apparently you must enter by air, and it should be the specific port of entry that you have entered in your online application form.

(2) Currently the website only supports application from 5 countries: UK, UAE, China, Turkey, Malaysia.

Is that the visa on arrival or the e-visa you are talking about? Or both?

It's the e-visa. I will ask them about visa on arrival and update again.

If the evisa's not valid for entry overland from India or China, then its usefulness to travellers drops a great deal.

In any event, can you exit overland?

I emailed the support on contact us on the visa website and this was the reply :
?Dear Sir/Madam,

Currently this system is deployed at airports only and will be extended to land borders in near future.

Thanks to stsxx for the update.

Good to know that land entry is possible in the future.
