Am traveling at the moment, but will be back in a few days and will talk to some people who are hopefully in the know to sort out this mess. Thanks for the info, kcml, that does sound positive.

Right, so as the person above me posted, the KZ embassy in DC have on their site that 19 country citizens "can enter, transit through and exit the territory of Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 15 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border, starting from July 15, 2015 to December 31, 2017".

So no 30 days, just the 15 extended to 2017?

And they've expanded the number of countries that qualify for the visa-free regime.

In accordance with the Governmental Regulation №483 from June 26, 2015 to the amendments and additions to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 21, 2012 №148 citizens of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, France, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Monaco, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan are exempt from visa requirements for visits up to fifteen calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border between July 16, 2015 to December 31, 2017.

Hi everyone,

Well, it is quite disappointing. Nazarbayev announced all OECD countries to be involved in visa free regime from now on, however they have just added only 10 new countries.

Has anyone news concerning other countries i.e. Poland and others in Eastern Europe?

vVagary, I'm not sure about Poland and others in Eastern Europe, but have spoken to the embassy about New Zealand citizens (also OECD) and they require a visa (but not an LOI).

Thanks to all who posted news from the embassy websites. That sounds quite official. I updated the Kazakh visa page. For those brave souls who are first to test the new rule, be sure to print out a screen grab from the embassy websites in case the border guards give you grief.

At Almaty airport on Saturday 18/07/2015, there was still some confusion about what countries the new 15 days visa free regime applies to.

It didn't help that the consul had just decided to disappear for an hour or so ... and that the signs and posters in the arrival hall are all out of date ...
